Creeps

Crypt Creeps may refer generally to all enemies that appear in the Mausoleum/Crypt Creeps scene of the original Dragon's Lair and specifically to the flying spectral skeletons. The flying skeleton Crypt Creeps await in a vault at the end of a corridor in the tombs where Dirk also has to deal with animated skulls, flesh-eating black goo and giant skeletal hands. (possibly belonging to the reanimated skeleton of a dragon).

In Dragon's Lair 3D: Return to the Lair, the Dragon's Spirit Essence is guarded by The Crypt King, who acquired it after the banishment of Mordroc to an alternate dimension prior to the events of the game.

The floating spectre Crypt Creeps are joined with:

  • The Bouncing Skulls/Chattering Skulls which also debuted in the same stage and could be considered variations on the Creeps. The Skulls return for Dragon's Lair II: Time Warp as enemies who reside near the skeletal remains of Singe the Dragon in his former Treasure Room.
  • The large Skeletal Hands (possibly belonging to the reanimated skeleton of a dragon).
  • Amorphous black goo which encompasses and devours Dirk if he stands in one place too long (the goo might possibly consist of a legion of countless bugs that operate together).

Trivia[]

  • Along with a few other enemies, the Crypt Creeps had their name spelled out by a caption in the original game's intro.
  • The Creeps are actually encountered twice in the 1983 game, in two scenes that are horizontally mirrored versions of each other.
  • Marvel Books released a Dragon's Lair coloring/activity book titled Dirk the Daring Battles the Crypt Creeps in 1984.
